The Staff

Mentally prepare yourself to meet more people than you would at your first family reunion in about a decade.

Here is a short, hopefully comprehensive, list of the staff you have now been forced to welcome into your room:

- Nurses
- Doctors
- Nurse Practitioners
- Respiratory Therapists
- Surgical team
- X-Ray, Echo, EKG, and EEG technicians
- Phlebotomists
- Physical and Occupational Therapists
- Dieticians
- Child Life Specialists
- Case Management
- Social Workers
- Volunteers
- and potentially a few more...

My point here is that you are going to meet a whole slough of people that come to work every day to help children just like yours get better. There are a lot of new faces, new names, and different colored scrubs to become familiar with and that can be very scary for you and your child. In an attempt to make the transition from face to face a little easier, I will take some time to explain what each group of staff members is trying to accomplish with their newest teammates: you and your child. And remember, you won't necessarily have to meet each and every one of the ones that made the list.
