During this season of wonder and thankfulness, I thank you.
Hello everyone! I'm not sure about you, but I am definitely still rolling around the house after our Thanksgiving holiday.
This article is something that came across my Facebook page a few days ago. Ever since, I really have been ruminating over what this wonderful nurse had to say.
So often, as nurses, we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of our daily tasks and must-dos. But I believe we all would say that we do have the time every once in a while to let the patients and families influence and change us. But really, how often do we sit long enough to recognize how great their impact is on us? And even if we do that, how often do we speak up and appreciate them out loud? I know I certainly don't do it enough.
If you are a parent reading this that is currently or has been in the PICU, then I thank you. Thank you for your understanding of our busy schedules, thank you for appreciating the time we take out of our days to sit with you, thank you for being gracious when I forgot to bring you water for the third time, and then thank you for being so appreciative when I finally remembered hours later. Thank you for letting me love on your child, thank you for laughing with me, thank you for challenging me, thank you for making me better, and thank you for trusting us with your little world.
Please take some time to read this beautiful article, this nurse says it so much better than I could.
A pediatric critical-care nurse has a message for her patients and their parents: Thank you
Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas to all, this is a season for wonder and thankfulness, and i have seen amazing things happen during this time of the year. Don't lose hope and remember, we appreciate you, nurses and parent readers alike.
